Do you want ‘fix’ or do you want ‘better’?
Executives tend to seek outside help for two main reasons: to fix something or to create something better.
It’s a trick question. To fully understand why, watch the video.

Video key points:

  • Business leaders and managers tend to answer ‘Better’.

  • When asked why, they respond in terms of 'wrong' and 'against'.

  • In other words, they want ‘better’, but think ‘fix’.

  • It is difficult to build a sustainable competitive strategy based on ‘wrong’ and ‘against’. Doing so will create a reactive strategy, reacting to what-is or what-was.

  • Sustainable competitive strategies are proactive, designed to create ‘what-can-be’.

My secret to strategy success? Build your strategy on what you are ‘for’ once you are sure that your ‘for’ is not simply the opposite of your ‘against’.  (That's how you trigger strategies that create the new, not merely destroy the old; strategies that seek to cooperate when appropriate, instead of competing blindly.)

If that is what you want, then let’s talk. My specific areas of expertise are strategy development and execution, and the resultant management of change. Because if you get those right and you will create the ‘better’.
